2D Shop

This was created in three days and was intended to show what I could do in a short amount of time. The spec was to make a 2D shop, in the style of the adored indie game Stardew Valley, with all the functionality one might expect. Made in Unity Engine.

Edit: I have since expanded on this project and added Lighting from a 2D rendering pipeline as part of Unity's URP. The first part of the video demonstrates its potential as well as showcases a new furniture purchasing, placing, and moving mechanic commonly found in simulation games.

Sprite art assets were limited so much was needed to be left to the imagination and out of sight from the player.

My Contributions:

  • Used Unity's Tilemap system to create an furniture placing, rotating, and moving

  • Furniture will not place if area is occupied or if the player doesn't have enough money to purchase

  • Used Unity's 2D Renderer as part of the Universal Render Pipeline for nice lighting effects

  • Created NPC AI scripts for waypoint navigation and a dialogue system

  • Built all UI for shopping and dialogue that displays the speaker's image sprite

  • Used Unity's Tilemaps for level creation

  • Allowed for the character sprite to change clothing

Project Details:

  • C# Language

  • Completed spec work project in three days and later expanded on the project with content seen in the first half of the video

  • Created in Unity3D
